STEPS TO BE TAKEN TO BECOME A CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT
I. Register & Study For Common Proficiency Test (CPT)
1. Pass Class 10 Examination and register with the Board of Studies of CA Institute for COMMON PROFICIENCY TEST (CPT)
2. Collect Study Package and prepare for the test by reading the study material.
3. Simultaneously study and appear for 12th (10+2) Examination.
4. After appearing for 12th appear in Common Proficiency Test.
5. CPT exams are held in JUNE and DECEMBER Every Year.
II. Common Proficiency Test At A Glance
1. It is an entry level test for Chartered Accountancy.
2. It is a test of four subjects:
(a) Accounting (60 Marks) (b) Mercantile Laws (40 Marks)
(c) General Economics (50 Marks) (d) Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)
3. CPT is an objective type test with negative marking for choosing wrong options.
4. The test is of 200 marks and passing marks are 100.
5. The test is divided into two sessions of two hours each with a break in between.
III. Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC)
1. A candidate is eligible for enrolment for IPCC on passing the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and 12th (10+2) Examination.
2. After registering for IPCC a candidate has to undergo a self study course of 9 months.
3. A candidate has to complete Orientation Programme of 35 Hours and 100 Hours of Information Technology Training (ITT) during the study course of 9 Months and then appear for IPCC exam.
4. The subjects of IPCC are classified into two groups which a student can study an appear in the examination either group-wise or both the groups together.
5. In order to qualify for Articleship ( 3 years) it is mandatory for a student to Pass GROUP I of IPCC.

IV. CA – Final
1. After passing IPCC, register for CA-Final Course.
2. Collect study material and study for final examination.
3. Join Articleship under a practicing Chartered Accountant and undergo 3 years of training.
4. Undergo General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) Course during the period of articled training.
5. Appear for Final Examination after completing 2 ½ years of articled training and complete balance 6 months of training.
6. Pass final examination and enroll for membership.

STEPS TO BE TAKEN TO BECOME A COMPANY SECRETARY
I. Register & Study For Foundation Programme
1. After appearing in XII, register with CS Institute before 31th March and appear for CS Foundation in DECEMBER Exam.
OR Pass Class 12 (10+2) examination and register with the Institute before 30th September and appear in JUNE Exam.
2. Undergo a course of compulsory Postal Tuition imparted by the CS Institute. The student is provided with study material and test papers for various subjects.
3. Answer and qualify required number of test papers for obtaining Eligibility Certificate in order to appear in CS Foundation Programme examination. OR Join CAPS Oral Coaching Center for getting exemption from postal tuition and appear for CS Foundation Programme examination.
4. Subjects of Foundation Programme are:
a) English and Business Communication. b) Economics and Statistics
c) Financial Accounting d) Elements of Business Laws and Management
5. Foundation Programme examination is held in JUNE and DECEMBER every year
6. Fees for CS Foundation Programme is Rs.3,600/–
Note:– Arts, Science, Commerce Graduates (excluding Fine Arts) and ICAI and ICWA passed students are exempted
from passing the CS Foundation Programme
II. Executive Programme of Company Secretaryship
1. Pass CS Foundation Programme examination and register for CS Executive Programme. Arts, Science, Commerce Graduates (excluding Fine Arts) and ICAI and ICWA passed students are exempted from passing the CS Foundation Programme.
Note: A student must not be less than 17 years of age for Executive Programme registration. Registration is for a period of
five (5) years.
2. CS Executive Programme comprises of 2 (two) Modules and a student will be eligible to appear for one or both modules depending on the month of his registration. The registration and eligibility for appearing in exam is as under:

2. The Professional Programme comprises of 4 (four) modules of two subjects each.
3. Undergo 18 months of training under a practicing Company Secretary.
4. Undergo Postal Tuition for all the Module and obtain Coaching Completion Certificate for appearing in the examination.
