Chartered Accountancy
I.Register & Study For Common Proficiency Test (CPT)
1.Pass Class 10 Examination and register with the Board of Studies of CA Institute for COMMON PROFICIENCY TEST (CPT)
2.Collect Study Package and prepare for the test by reading the study material.
3.Simultaneously study and appear for 12th (10+2) Examination.
4.After appearing for 12th appear in Common Proficiency Test.
5.CPT exams are held in JUNE and DECEMBER Every Year.
II.Common Proficiency Test At A Glance
1.It is an entry level test for Chartered Accountancy.
2.It is a test of four subjects:
(a) Accounting (60 Marks) (b) Mercantile Laws (40 Marks)
(c) General Economics (50 Marks) (d) Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)
3.CPT is an objective type test with negative marking for choosing wrong options.
4.The test is of 200 marks and passing marks are 100.
5.The test is divided into two sessions of two hours each with a break in between.
III.Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC)
1.A candidate is eligible for enrolment for IPCC on passing the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and 12th (10+2) Examination.
2.After registering for IPCC a candidate has to undergo a self study course of 9 months.
3.A candidate has to complete Orientation Programme of 35 Hours and 100 Hours of Information Technology Training (ITT) during the study course of 9 Months and then appear for IPCC exam.
4.The subjects of IPCC are classified into two groups which a student can study an appear in the examination either group-wise or both the groups together.
5.In order to qualify for Articleship ( 3 years) it is mandatory for a student to Pass GROUP I of IPCC.
7.IPCC exams are held in MAY and NOVEMBER Every Year.
IV.CA - Final
1.After passing IPCC, register for CA-Final Course.
2.Collect study material and study for final examination.
3.Join Articleship under a practicing Chartered Accountant and undergo 3 years of training.
4.Undergo General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) Course during the period of articled training.
5.Appear for Final Examination after completing 2 ½ years of articled training and complete balance 6 months of training.
6.Pass final examination and enroll for membership.
IV.CA - Final
1.After passing IPCC, register for CA-Final Course.
2.Collect study material and study for final examination.
3.Join Articleship under a practicing Chartered Accountant and undergo 3 years of training.
4.Undergo General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) Course during the period of articled training.
5.Appear for Final Examination after completing 2 ½ years of articled training and complete balance 6 months of training.
6.Pass final examination and enroll for membership.
Company Secretaryship
A Prolific Career : Company Secretary
The work and importance of a company secretary in a company is immense. The functions performed by a company secretary are varied like planning strategies, handling finance, legal and administrative operations. The company secretary also handles the sales taxes and the excise, labour and corporate laws. Basically a company secretary is the chief administrator in a company. Whenever a new operation or project is undertaken by a company, a company secretary is responsible for ensuring that it is in tune with Government laws and policies. A company secretary has to be updated with changes and amendments in the laws, financial practices and other such things for effectively performing the duties. A company secretary also plans the corporate meetings and records the various decisions taken by the management.
“The Institute of Company Secretaries of India ” (ICSI) is a premier National Professional body established by Act of Parliament to develop and regulate the Profession of Company Secretaries.
ICSI imparts training in Company Secretaryship by Distance Learning (by correspondence) enabling students to qualify as Company Secretaries. The Institute provides “Course Material” for all the subjects at the time of Registration. There is also provision for Optional Oral Coaching classes.
Career as a Company Secretary is not only prestigious and financially rewarding but also carries with it a high level of job satisfaction.
Stages to become a Company Secretary
The student who would like to join the Course after 10+2 has to undergo three stages to pursue the Company Secretaries Course i.e.
Foundation Programme
Executive Programme
Professional Programme
In addition, the student has to undergo Practical Training for about 15 months (which may soon be extended to 24 months) that he may opt to start after passing the Executive Programme.
The Student who would like to join the Course after passing the Graduation has to undergo two stages of the Company Secretaryship alongwith 15 months training i.e.
Executive Programme
Professional Programme
Foundation Programme which is of eight months duration can be pursued by 10+2 pass students of Arts, Science or Commerce stream.
Executive Programme can be pursued by a Graduate of all streams except Fine Arts.
Professional Programme can be pursued only after clearing the Executive Programme of CS Course.
After qualifying Professional Examination and on successful completion of training a candidate is admitted as an Associate Member of the ICSI and can use the letters ACS after his/her name i.e.Associate Company Secretary.
Admission to the CS Course is open throughout the year. Examinations are held twice a year in June & December.

Self-Employment/Practising Company Secretaries
• After obtaining a 'Certificate of Practice' from the Institute, Members of the Institute can go in for Independent Practice.
• Every company having a paid-up share capital of Rs. Ten Lakhs or more but less than Rs. Five Crores is required to engage the services of a Secretary in Whole-Time Practice for issue of Compliance Certificate.
• Pursuant to Clause 49 of the Listing Agreement, Practising Company Secretaries have been authorized to issue Certificate regarding compliance of conditions of Corporate Governance as stipulated in the Clause.
The CS Course is :
• Recognized by the various Universities for admission to PhD Course
• Appointment of Lecturers in Commerce & Management
